Design & Technology

In the Early Years Foundation Stage, learning provides opportunities to use and explore a wide variety of tools, materials and techniques through a play-based approach. Pupils are encouraged to use their imaginations to design their own creations and are prompted to explain the steps they took. Adults support them to reflect on their creations and prompt them to think about their approach and method.

We build on this in KS1 and KS2 by using the Design and Technology Association - Project on a Page overviews. This ensures progression of knowledge and skills across Years 1 to 6. Each year group takes part in three D.T projects over the course of an academic year; one food based project and two in either textiles, construction, electrics or mechanisms.

Our design technology curriculumgives our pupils a full array of knowledge, skills and understanding so that they can leave our school ready to become creative problem solvers. Design technology at SampfordPeverell aims to provide students with the opportunities to research, represent, explore, investigate, test and evaluate their products from start to finish.

Please explore our two year rolling programme to see what projects and learning our children undertake.
